The Swiss Society for Neuroscience (SSN) is a non-profit organization. The purpose of the Society is to advance the understanding of the nervous system and its diseases, by bringing together scientists and clinicians of various backgrounds, and by facilitating the integration of research.

The SSN promotes the exchange between basic and clinical research, as well as with industrial research.

The SSN promotes education in the basic and clinical neurosciences.

The SSN promotes exchange and collaboration at the national and international level.

The SSN informs the general public on the results and implications of current research in neuroscience.

Any resident of Switzerland who is engaged in research relating to the basic or clinical neurosciences is eligible to apply for ordinary membership. Applications must be submitted on-line. The eligibility of candidate members will be verified by the Secretary. Application from residents of other countries will be considered if they can advance convincing arguments for joining the Society. The Council has the final responsibility for approval or disapproval of all applications for membership. Membership runs from October 1st to September 30th of the following year.
