The SSN counts over 1000 ordinary and student members representing all major disciplines of neuroscience.
It is the fith largest member of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS). It vigorously supports the development of brain research in Europe.
To encourage young neuroecientists, the SSN offers travel fellowships to attend international meetings and several awards for outstanding achievements (e.g. Best Publication Award).
The SSN actively seeks interactions with clinical societies to promote scientific exchange between researchers in basic neuroscience and clinicians.
