European Neuroscience Schools of FENS
PENS

PENS, the Programme of European Neuroscience Schools, is a collaboration between FENS and IBRO. This programme aims at training students and young investigators and brings together educational activities sponsored by FENS through its Schools Committee and by IBRO’s Regional Committees for Europe: Western Europe Regional Committee (WERC) and Central and Eastern Europe Regional Committee (CEERC).

PENS provides funds to support high-quality schools and courses on a wide range of important topics in the neurosciences. Particular attention is given to proposals from the membership that encourage an active involvement of the students and the teachers during the entire event.

Students can apply for a travel grant.

NENS

NENS (Network of European Neuroscience Schools) has the goal of fostering interactions among the different European graduate programmes in the neurosciences. Over the last few years the number of graduate programmes in the field of neuroscience has been growing continuously across Europe. We at FENS feel that it is time to start the dialogue between the organisers and representatives of the different European neuroscience schools. Our goals are: better understanding of each other’s scientific focus and expertise, better understanding of each other’s formal set-up and structure, laying the foundation for increased cooperation, and ultimately raising the degree of mobility of students and researchers.

FENS provides stipends for students that are registered within NENS member schools/programmes and who wish to engage in methodological and research training in the laboratory of another NENS member school/programme. The stipend is up to 1,000 EUR and will covers travel and accommodation.
