SSN Meeting 2003

University of Fribourg, January 18th 2003

The 2003 annual meeting, held jointly in Fribourg with the Swiss Society of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, was a huge success, thanks to an excellent organization and widespread participation (>260 registered participants and 163 posters). The meeting was the opportunity to deliver our new and traditional awards. The first SSN Best Publication Award was presented to two ex-aequo winners, D. Genoux (Zurich) and Ch. Lo Bianco (Lausanne). The Award for the Best Clinical study was based on pre-selection of three abstracts and an oral presentation of the work. The award went to D. de Quervain et al. (Zurich). Finally, the Best Poster Awards recognized the work by I. C. Weiss and I. M. Mansuy (Zurich), G. W. Knott et al. (Lausanne), and Ph. Maeder et al. (Lausanne). The excellent quality of the posters presented in Fribourg denotes the high standards of neuroscience research in Switzerland.

The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences awarded two prestigious prizes during our annual meeting. First, the Theodor-Ott Prize, which awards a successful and internationally recognized carrier in Neuroscience, was given to H. Möhler (Zurich) and D. Muller (Geneva). Second, the Robert-Bing Prize was awarded to A. Merlo (Basel) and Ch. Lüscher (Geneva).

We congratulate all the winners, who happen to all be members of the SSN!
