Previous courses in animal experimentation
2008 - "Psychiatric disorders and their modelling in animals: in search of symptoms or syndromes?"

Half a day of continuing education in animal experimentation, Cery Psychiatric Hospital, Auditorium Müller and CEC
This symposium celebrates the opening of the Centre Etudes du Comportement (CEC), a new behavioural testing facility inLausanne. Oral presentations focused on animal models in psychiatry will be followed by a practical demonstration of behavioural testing setups and protocols at CEC.

2007 - "Continuous education day on primate research"

SSN members from the Faculty of Science in Fribourg have organized a one-day course in continuous education in animal experimentation that takes place in Fribourg on november 15th 2007.

2006 - "Molecular imaging in animal models"

In 2006, the SSN has organized a one-day course in continuous education in animal experimentation that took place in Zürich on October 6th (Symposium entitled "Molecular imaging in animal models").

A continuous education course specifically on primates took place in Zurich on Sept. 25th 2006.

2005 - “Animal Models of Nervous System Diseases”

Based on the positive experience from the previous year (2004), with the 2 symposia on continuous education in animal experimentation (see below), the SSN has offered in 2005 again a symposium on a new topic:

“Animal Models of Nervous System Diseases”

September 23, 2005, University of Zürich, Irchel Campus, Zürich

2004 - "Invasive and non-invasive in vivo analyses in animals"

In order to refine handling of animals in biomedical experimentation, the federal law of 1.7.1999 requires from new experimentalists to follow a one week “Introduction Course”, which are organized several times every year in Zürich (in German or in English), in Basel (in German) and in Lausanne (in French).

The central committee of the SSN decided to contribute to the continuous education of the SSN members, by offering in 2004 two such courses, with special emphasis on Neurosciences. These two courses of one day training took place one in Fribourg (Sept. 17th; resp. Dr. E.M. Rouiller) and the other in Zürich (Sept. 24th; resp. Dr. I. Mansuy).
