The IRP Foundation Zurich/Geneva invites applications and
nominations for the


IRP - Schellenberg Prize 2011


The IRP - Schellenberg Prize for Research will be awarded on the basis of scientific merit to recognize recent achievements in the cellular, molecular and clinical aspects of spinal cord development, plasticity and regeneration following lesions.


Eligible for the Prize are young but established group leaders with outstanding achievements in experimental research related to spinal cord injury and repair.


The Prize sum of 150'000 Swiss Francs is to be used for research purposes (personnel, equipment or supplies) and will be handed over to the winner at an award ceremony in spring 2011 in Switzerland by the IRP Foundations.

Applications should include:
1) description of his/her accomplishments in spinal cord research (max. 4 pages)
2) reprints or preprints of relevant publications
3) curriculum vitae and list of all publications over the last 5 years.

 

Applications and nominations are due by October 1st, 2010. They can be sent to the address below or submitted on the website www.irp.ch, where further information, including the IRP - Schellenberg Prize regulations, can be found.

The IRP Foundation Geneva / Zurich invites applications for
RESEARCH GRANTS
in the field of

Basic and Clinical Research on CNS Regeneration / Neuroprotection and Functional Restoration


with special emphasis on the spinal cord.


Funds for one or two years will be allocated up to 75'000 Swiss Francs for one year, 150'000 Swiss Francs for two years on the basis of scientific quality and relevance to paraplegia for research proposals studying mechanisms of injury and repair, as well as long term recovery.

 

Applications from start up groups are welcome.


IRP Foundation Geneva will also award one fellowship for up to two years to support post-doctoral research in paraplegia.


Applications will be reviewed by an international panel of basic and clinical neuroscientists.

Movement Disorder Research Grant by the Jacques and Gloria Gossweiler Foundation

The grant will be offered as an individual fellowship to support an outstanding postdoctoral scientist and clinician running a research program in an internationally acknowledged institution working in the field of non-pharmaceutical treatment of Parkinson's Disease and other Movement Disorders.


Initially the fellowship will be granted for a 2 year period, with a possible extension of the period to a maximum of 4 years. The grant includes the salary for the fellow at a postdoctoral level as well as equipment, if needed.

FRICK FOUNDATION FOR ALS RESEARCH

The Bruno and Ilse Frick Foundation for Research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is calling for grant applications. The aim of the Foundation is to encourage basic biomedical research related to understanding the cause of ALS (100,000 CHF over 2 years). These awards are not directed to clinically related projects for patient care. There is no geographical limitation to the recipients of these grants.

Robert-Bing Award 2010

The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) awards every two years the Prize Robert Bing for outstanding accomplishments in the field of neurological research. The Prize Robert Bing 2010 goes to Matthew E. Larkum from the Insitute of Physiology, University of Berne, and to Thomas Nyffeler from the Clinic for Neurology, University Hospital Berne.

The Prize will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Swiss Society of Neuroscience, March 13, 2010 in Lausanne.
