Junior Debiopharm Life Sciences Award 2011

The President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Dean of the EPFL School of Life Sciences, and the Executive Board of Debiopharm Group are pleased to invite applications for two Junior Debiopharm Group Life Sciences Awards 2011.

The Sponsor, Debiopharm Group™, is a Swiss biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the development of prescription drugs that target unmet medical needs.

The awards will honor two young researchers (postdocs or group leaders) under the age of 33 working at a Swiss institution in the wider area of

Cellular and molecular biology.

This includes, but is not limited to cancer, genetics, signal transduction, infection biology, developmental biology, and neuroscience.


The award consists of a total of 25'000 CHF each, of which one fifth is a personal award, while the rest will contribute to support the awardee's research. It will be presented at the Annual EPFL Life Science Symposium "Hallmarks & Horizons of Cancer" to be held from September 7th to 10th, 2011. (please visit http://isrec2011.epfl.ch).


Candidates are invited to submit their applications no later than April 15th, 2011. A Jury of internationally renowned scientific experts will evaluate the applications, and invite preselected candidates to the EPFL for a short presentation.

 

The dossier should be comprised of:
1. her/his curriculum vitae,
2. her/his list of publications,
3. a one-page outline of her/his plans for future research and career,
4. names and contact details of two reference persons.

Research prize of the Swiss Brain League

 

Every two years, the Swiss Brain League awards a prize of CHF 20,000 to a Swiss research group in recognition of its outstanding scientific contribution in the field of neurological research. Both clinical and basic research projects are eligible. The prize is always awarded collectively to the group that worked on the winning initiative.

 

To be considered for the prize, entries must have been published or accepted for publication by an internationally recognized journal within the last two years and should principally have been written and conceived at a Swiss medical and/or scientific institution.

 

In addition to a scientific publication, all entries (submitted as five copies) should include a declaration stating the intended use of the prize money, a short CV with a publication list attached and a declaration of consent signed by the authors.
