FENS and Marie-Curie Training Grants

A number of University and Research Institute consortia may shortly be preparing applications for the current round of Marie-Curie Training Grants for which the preliminary applications must be submitted by early May.

FENS has recently had face-to-face discussions with officers of the Marie-Curie program in Brussels, and I am pleased to announce that FENS can serve as a collaborating partner in such applications. This may be helpful for some applications, though not others. Specifically, FENS cannot be a body that accepts and trains Ph.D students (ESRs), but it can offer access to its Winter and Summer Schools and to its growing body of targeted  PENS  Training  Centers. EU funds may then be available to defray the costs of attendance by M-C students within such  training grants and to open access to others elsewhere in Europe.

Accordingly, the FENS Office would be happy to hear from those putting together consortia that might wish to consider this possibility. We believe it could, subject to scientific relevance, be advantageous for some applications given the excellent track record of the FENS /IBRO  Schools. We cannot guarantee to join many applications, nor should we, but we would be interested in hearing from application coordinators who might think this would be helpful.

Please contact Meino Gibson in the FENS Office (BERLIN) in the first instance.
